Is Internshala free for companies to post internships?

15 min read

Yes, for one listing a month. As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s terms let a company based in India post one free internship or job listing each month, and its posting FAQ states 30-day visibility and access to the first 20 applications. As of 31 October 2026, the terms also set stipend minimums for paid internships, and a second listing in the same month needs a paid plan.

Updated 31 October 2026. Free-listing limits, stipend rules, posting steps, paid plans, refunds and alternatives were checked against official pages.

Is Internshala free for employers, and what is included?

As of 31 October 2026, India-based employers get one free listing a month, according to Internshala’s terms, which count listings and do not state how many openings one listing can carry. The table below shows its application access, visibility period and stated tools, as of 31 October 2026, with the page each comes from.

What is the minimum stipend on Internshala?

Internshala’s terms state a minimum stipend of ₹2,000 a month for an in-office internship and ₹1,000 a month for a work-from-home internship, and a minimum CTC of 2 LPA for a full-time job listing, as read on 31 October 2026. These are Internshala’s rules for listings on its own site, not a statement of law.

As of 31 October 2026, the stipend clause gives minimums for in-office and work-from-home internships only, names no hybrid or part-time minimum, and Internshala’s terms allow unpaid internships only for NGOs and non-profits, government agencies, and niche profiles in law or legal research. If your internship is hybrid or part-time, ask Internshala which minimum applies before you post it.

These fictional examples apply Internshala’s listing rules as of 31 October 2026.

Who can use the free listing, and what does Internshala check first?

As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s terms set these conditions: a company based in India that posts for itself can use the free listing, and first-time employers may be asked for company documents.

  • Posting for yourself: the terms say you can post only for the organisation you directly work for.
  • Agencies: the terms let recruiting agencies post for a client only after sharing the client’s confirmation by email or authorisation letter.
  • First-time check: the terms say you may be asked for documents in the company’s name for first-time authentication, or can complete one-time authentication by signing in to the company’s YouTube channel, and that the information is used only for authentication.
  • Roles not allowed: the terms bar freelancing opportunities, modelling jobs and internships, network-level marketing jobs where applicants must use personal connections and social media accounts to promote a business, jobs where an applicant might consume alcohol or smoke, businesses promoting or dealing in gambling, jobs where an applicant might promote betting, and asking applicants to sell or promote your products or services during shortlisting.

How do I post an internship on Internshala, step by step?

As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s post-a-job page and hire talent page describe these steps: sign up, open the dashboard, fill in one listing and submit it for review.

  1. Sign up. The hire talent page offers Google sign-in, or an official email, a password, your name and a mobile number. The post-a-job page says to create the account with your company email and official details.
  2. Pass the first-time check. Keep company documents ready, or access to the company’s YouTube channel, as the terms describe.
  3. Open the dashboard. The post-a-job page says to click the External posting tab to start a new listing. We could not open the dashboard without an account, so tab names on your screen may differ.
  4. Write the title and description. Use a clear title and a detailed description of no more than 2,500 characters, the limit in the hire talent FAQ.
  5. Set location, duration and start date. The post-a-job page lists all three.
  6. State the stipend and requirements. The post-a-job page asks for the stipend or salary and the skills, qualifications and experience. Keep the stipend at or above the minimum for your internship type in the terms.
  7. Set the application deadline and submit. The post-a-job page lists a review of all details before you submit.
  8. Wait for review. The hire talent FAQ says the listing goes live shortly after Internshala’s team reviews it, and that applications start arriving within a few hours.
  9. Shortlist, interview and offer. The hire talent page lists an assignment tool, chat and an interview scheduler, so confirm which of them your free listing includes. The terms require an offer letter; see our internship offer letter format.

As of 31 October 2026, the post-a-job FAQ says a posted listing can be closed but not removed, and a closed listing is visible only to you. Prepare these details before opening the form.

What rules apply during selection and after hiring?

As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s terms also set rules for selection tasks, offer letters, payment and applicant data, and say a breach can mean a declined listing, a blocked account or legal action.

  • Match the advert. The terms say what you tell applicants later must not differ for the worse from the listing, such as a stipend lower than the advertised one.
  • Set fair tasks. The terms require an assignment to be fair and relevant to the role, and bar passing off free work, app downloads or social media likes as an assessment.
  • Put the offer in writing and pay on time. The terms say the letter gives the role, responsibilities, remuneration, payment mechanism and your full address and contact details, and prohibit late or missing payment.
  • Answer complaints. The terms ask you to reply within 72 working hours when Internshala passes on a complaint from an applicant.
  • Take no money and no early documents. The terms prohibit test fees, security deposits and documentation fees. They also bar asking for Aadhaar, PAN card or similar personal documents at the shortlisting stage, and asking applicants to open demat accounts, including through a pre-selection assessment, or to open bank accounts on the organisation’s behalf as part of shortlisting.
  • Use applicant data for hiring only. The terms bar promotional messages to applicants and sharing their data with anyone else.

What does Internshala charge when one free listing is not enough?

As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s plans page shows paid plans from ₹2,999 for one premium listing and does not mention GST, while its Smart Hire article says its prices exclude GST, so confirm the total at checkout.

As of 31 October 2026, the plans page lists unlimited applications with job promotion, AI matching and interviewer tools and a dedicated account manager on every paid plan. On 31 October 2026, the plans page shows struck-through list prices, and the Smart Hire article, updated 3 September 2026, lists the same ₹2,999 single listing and calls listing packs custom-priced.

As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s terms say payment is due in full in advance, and its refund and cancellation policy says an employer may ask for a full refund within 30 days of buying an individual fresher job listing or a premium internship upgrade if it could not hire even one candidate. On 31 October 2026, the refund policy adds that a company can use this once, that premium and bulk plans are not refundable, and that a breach of the terms or a conflicting product-page term can change the outcome. As of 31 October 2026, Internshala’s refund policy states that eligible refunds are made in full within 15 working days of the request, excluding weekends and national holidays. Ask Internshala which category your purchase falls in before you pay.

Is Internshala the right place for this internship?

Check whether the free allowance gives you enough listings and applicant access for this vacancy. As of 31 October 2026, Internshala advertises internship and fresher hiring on its hire talent page, while its post-a-job page and hiring guide also mention experienced candidates.

These checks use Internshala’s own pages as read on 31 October 2026.

  • It fits when you have one internship or fresher job to fill this month, can state a stipend that meets the minimum in its terms, and hire from anywhere in India, which the hire talent FAQ says free jobs can reach.
  • Check first if you need several roles live at once or more than the first 20 applications. The terms and the hire talent FAQ point those needs to a premium plan or listing.
  • Check first if the internship is unpaid or hybrid. The terms allow unpaid internships only in the three cases above, and they name no hybrid minimum.

How do I check Internshala’s current terms before I post?

Before posting, confirm the free allowance and included tools. Before paying, check the refund conditions. As of 31 October 2026, the terms say Internshala can change them at any time, and that changes apply as soon as they are posted on the site.

  1. Open the terms and find “Most Important Terms & Conditions for Employers”.
  2. Open the plans page and read the free plan card, where ticks and crosses show what is included.
  3. Open the hire talent page and read its FAQ for the application limit and the description length.
  4. Open the refund and cancellation policy before you buy anything.
  5. If the posting screen and the published terms conflict, ask Internshala to confirm the applicable conditions before paying.
How do I choose which internship role to advertise first?

Start with the role that has the clearest scope, a named supervisor and a start date you can keep. If you have several roles, compare each platform’s allowance before you post a second one on the same channel. Keep the other roles ready on the same worksheet so they can go live when a slot opens.

How should I compare applications consistently?

Write three must-have criteria before you open the first application, and score every applicant against them. Give each shortlisted applicant the same short task, and record scores in one sheet so two reviewers can compare notes.

What should I do if my first shortlist is weak?

Check whether the title, stipend, duration and required skills accurately describe the work. Review whether your essential criteria exclude applicants who could learn the work. Change the criteria only if the role’s actual requirements justify it.

How can two reviewers avoid contacting the same applicant twice?

Assign one person to contact each shortlisted applicant. Keep a shared record of the last message, the next action and the owner, and check it before sending another message.

What should I agree with the supervisor before advertising?

Agree who will review the intern’s work, how often they will meet and which tasks need approval. Check that the supervisor can support the full internship before you advertise.
